Whether it’s those chilly storms Metro Detroiters recently underwent, or you are just feeling cooped up this time of year – it’s time to head outside and work with the snow instead of against it! Beverly Hills Village Park, 18801 Beverly Rd., Beverly Hills, 48025

A 35-acre wonderland comes with a sizable sled hill that’s perfect for the whole family.

Booth Park Sled Hill, southwest corner of Old Woodward & Harmon, Birmingham, 48009

Booth Park is an ideal option for beginner sledders.  It includes a small slope with an expansive playscape, a labyrinth and tunnel.  Take your little ones and show them what it’s like to slide down alongside you.

Lincoln Hills Golf Course, 2666 W 14 Mile Rd., Birmingham, 48009

Lincoln Hills is not only a great park to visit while it’s warm but there is an opportunity to sled downhill the same climbing sources in the winter weather.

Civic Center Sled Hill, 40700 Romeo Plank Rd., Clinton Twp., 48038

This park is tucked in between the corner of Canal and Romeo Plank with hills of all sizes that for small to large sleds and saucers.

Snowy Ridge Park, 753 Welch Rd. #601, Commerce Charter Twp., 48390

For those more westside, Snowy Ridge is a must-see sledder’s paradise.

Detroit Riverfront’s Milliken State Park at 1900 Atwater St., Detroit, 48207 and Robert C. Valade Park at 2670 Atwater St., Detroit, 48207

Right across from the popular Outdoor Adventure Center the Riverfront Park has sledding for all ages, including smaller slopes for beginners.

Balduck Park, 5271 Canyon St., Detroit, 48236

Grosse Pointe is known for some great family friendly parks for its residents.  This also include spaces to sled or ski. 

Shiawassee Park, intersection of Shiawassee & Powers Rd., Farmington, 48336

In the winter, visitors can enjoy the various park’s winding trails and snow-covered hills..

Heritage Park Sled Hill, 24915 Farmington Rd., Farmington Hills, 48336

With more than 200 acres to explore, Heritage is well-known to residents throughout the year.  In the wintertime, it comes equipped with some great trails and slopes.

Vernier Hill, corner of Verner Rd. & Lakeshore Dr., Grosse Pointe Woods, 48326

Vernier Hill is known for its winter sporting events, including some of the best sledding in the area.

Civic Center Park, 360 13 Mile Rd., Madison Heights, 48071

CCP has sledding conveniently located in Madison Heights and the surrounding areas of Royal Oak, Clawson, Sterling Heights and others.

Stony Creek Metro Park, 4300 Main Park Rd., Shelby Twp., 48316

This expansive park is home to some seriously large hills that sport some great sledding areas in the cold weather months among other great things to do for the whole family.

Kensington Metro Park, 4570 Huron River Pkwy., Milford, 48380

Kensington Metro Park also has plenty for the whole family to do including sledding areas for beginners to advanced slope riders.  Spend all day riding, then check out some of the park’s wildlife.

Lake Erie Metro Park, 32481 W Jefferson, Brownstown, 48173

For those Downriver, this well-known sledding attraction is a large, easy-to-find hill near the wave pool complex. 

Lake St. Clair Metro Park, 31300 Metro Pkwy., Harrison Township, 48045

A sledding adventure with a warming room is the perfect combination to be outside all day without getting too worn down. 

Willow Metro Park, 23200 S Huron Rd., New Boston, 48164

The Washago Pond and the Chestnut Picnic Area of Willow Metro Park includes sledding spots as well as opportunities for ice fishing or skating. 

Indian Springs Metro park, 5200 Indian Trail, White Lake, 48386

The Meadow Park Picnic Area at Indian Springs is a small and safe hill for younger sledders to get a feel of the slopes.

Novi Woods Elementary, 25195 Taft Rd., Novi, 48374

This hidden gem is a well-recognized sledding spot for Novi residents.  There is also a large playground and plenty of space for some snow-time fun.

Cass Benton Park, 18801 Sheldon Rd., Northville, 48168

Just on the other side of Novi Woods lies Cass Benton Park, one of the hillier sections of Hines Park and the perfect spot to pick up your sled and try out some quicker speeds.

Hamilton Hill in David H. Shepherd Park is a picturesque slope for smaller riders.  The area also offers a playscape and picnic tables for supervising parents.

Lost Lake Nature Park, 846 Lost Lake Trail, Oakland Charter Township, 48363

One of Oakland’s highest points, the challenging hill located between Kline and Rochester Rd. is open daily.  There is also a warming shelter for taking breaks in between.

Jesse Decker Park Sled Hill, 4080 N Squirrel Rd., Orion Charter Township, 48359

Just under 25 acres, this newest destination situated within Orion Township community park offers a steep hill for daring sledders.

Bloomer Park Sled Hill, 345 John R Rd., Rochester, 48307

There is not only plenty of space for sledding and tobogganing on the hill, but this park includes heated restrooms for warmups. 

Borden Park, 1400 E Hamlin Rd., Rochester Hills, 48307

Centered in the middle of surrounding neighborhoods, this is an excellent spot for residents looking for a quiet sledding space.

Romeo Activity Center, 361 Morton St., Romeo, 48065

The RAC offers the perfect-sized hill for beginners and experienced sledders alike with playscapes and picnic tables to spectate.

Waterford Oaks, 1702 Scott Lake Rd., Waterford Twp., 48328

This waterpark fully transforms into a winter sports haven with sledding slopes when the snow starts to fall.

Marshbank Park, 2805 Hiller Rd., West Bloomfield Township, 48324

This park now includes a well-designed hill and fire pits for heating up after some sledding fun..

Hines Drive (Middlebelt) Sledding Hill, 28558 Edward N Hines Dr., Westland, 48185

The Hines Drive site sits between Merriman and Inkster and has a serious slope for those looking for speed that is known to residents as “Dead Man’s Hill.” 

Rolling Hills Park, 7660 Stony Creek Rd., Ypsilanti, 48197

Rolling Hills is a prime prospect for both beginning and seasoned sledders visitors without sleds or skis, equipment is available to rent for $3.

No matter your level of expertise, Metro Detroit has hills for everyone to enjoy.  So dig out your winter gear and get going!
