Wixom was settled back 1831 and was incorporated as a city in 1958. The Wixom Assembly plant brought many families to the area, but it has since been shut down. That said, the the downtown area of the city has been developed with a new main street area on Pontiac Trail by the city offices called the Wixom Village Center. The Village Center includes a pedestrian plaza, restaurants, and service shops and the residential development - called Tribute of Wixom - contains 600 units that include ranch-style condos, town houses, and single-family homes!
